Manila Chief Public Information Office Julius Leonon called CEU to confirm if they complied with acting mayor Honey Lacuna’s order to suspend classes today due to inclement weather. According to Leonon, he was urged to confirm if the complaints they have received in social media by the students are true. Upon immediate action, Leonon found out that after 2 hours of suspension advisory, CEU management failed to comply with it immediately.
“Upon receiving complaints from students on social media, I immediately called Centro Escolar University to confirm the information. When one of their top management officials answered my call, she said they will immediately be complying with the local government’s announcement. That’s 11:00 AM, two hours after we announced.”
Moreover, Leonon hopes that CEU will comply immediately the next time when the government has announcements and orders to prevent other complications that may occur.
It can be recalled that last July 2019, Mayor Isko Moreno warns University of the East (UE) that he will revoke their permit if they do not comply with his order which is to suspend the classes.
“Tulad ng previous pronouncements ni mayor, sana ay hanggang paalala na lang po tayo. Huwag na po nila antayin na maging kumplikado pa ang sitwasyon.”
